Today I saw one of my previous babies become a new big sister. She was so excited to see the baby and mommy that she insisted daddy bring her early. So I jumped up and raced to the hospital, grateful the session was at Good Samaritan Medical Center which I can practically see from my front door. The 5 minute commute is really really rough! It’s really one of the most fulfilling part of my job, seeing my families grow. Getting to snuggle the babies is a close second! Patience is your friend for a Fresh 48 session involving a young newly promoted sibling. My trick is to let them do what they want while simultaneously trying to convince them the new baby is awesome. The red popsicle was a big hit, as well as her cheese pizza and PB&J she had for lunch. She was completely in control of this session. As you can see from the last picture, it’s hard work being the new big sister.
Sophie is still one of my best newborn sleepers during a hospital session. During her newborn photography session two years ago she only opened her eyes the last 10 minutes I was there. Little sister was pretty much the same, except when the nurse came in for the heel prick. After that was done she got changed, re-swaddled, and went right back to sleep. Before I left I also got a few with her eyes open. Yep, she’s just like big sister.
