… she’s in school.
Today was very anticlimactic. This entire month I have been reminding her daily she was about to head off to a new school. There were be no Ms. Sue and Ms. Jenna to greet her in the morning and ask her what lovey she brought to school that day. All her friends that would meet her at the door and hug would be at different schools. There would be new teachers and new friends, but most important mommy wouldn’t be able to stay. Her first day of preschool was extremely traumatic for myself and her. I spent everyday going to school with her. I helped out when needed, but I mostly sat in a corner on my phone ignoring her and her class. She was fine as long as she could see me so that’s what we did. The day I was finally able to leave I hid in a shed on the playground for nearly 45 minutes before I could rush out and go sit in the lobby. That was the day George came into our life and I wrote a letter about it here.
This month of change began with a trip to Texas to see family (will update with pictures of that later) and two birthday parties to celebrate turning six. One in Texas with family and one in Colorado with her friends. At her six year check-up she did great with her shots, but she honestly acted like I spoon-fed her sugar right before. OMG. Friday she did her assessment at her new school and while she wouldn’t let me leave the room she did a great job answering all the questions. Yesterday she met her teacher Ms. C-S and said she was excited to start Kindergarten, the complete opposite of what she says at home. She picked out her spot on the circle rug and tables, then she drew a picture of her family. A picture of a picture will have to do. Last night we read the book The Night Before Kindergarten and even with the best of intentions she rolled around babbling until almost 10pm. We will start earlier for the rest of the week! Now let me cry for a little while before I head to pick her up. I was so busy at the Apple store and then lunch with James I managed the entire morning with only a stray tear. I can’t wait to hear about her day and all the new people she met.
