New York City Family Photojournalism – This Day in the Life session was originally scheduled for March. I planned a trip to NYC with my husband for our 15th anniversary and made a session available either directly before or after the trip Amy & I confirmed this session and then Joy announced a Wildflowers Workshop in Austin for the same weekend. We both really wanted to go so we moved the session up a few months. The new plan was to come visit on Pierce’s 1st birthday and we would head up to the tree farm to get their Christmas tree.
It was amazing. One thing I had forgotten about Chloe at that age was how I managed to do everything with a small child glued to my hip 24-7. While they may have gotten some new PJs for the session everything else is just as it would be if I weren’t there. That was important to mom, just getting pictures of what life was like the day her youngest turned 1. This photojournalistic style is my favorite for families and it is easiest to use for the extended session. The longer I am there the more everyone kind of just forgets about the camera and carries on as they would. I still have a full-day fusion slideshow coming after the New Year (see it here), but today I wanted to share this family documentary film from the first few hours of their Day in the Life. See their entire day here.
Capturing my families first thing in the morning, is my favorite part of the Day in the Life sessions. These are the Nolans.
