I am a hoarder of childhood memories, not things, but my husband may disagree with that statement. I keep a mental list of all my clients: those still having babies and those done having babies. Because while the best part of my job is continuing to see my clients year after year, it’s certainly a bonus if they happen to bring me a new baby to cuddle. I mean did you see my new tagline on my homepage?

I am done having babies, can I photograph yours?

I actually had waffles and bacon with Jo and Addie (from the film above) this week. Poor Charlie had to miss because of school, but it also made me think of this childhood film I made about the girls. Charlie has asked several times why she doesn’t have a video made by Miss Colie from the hospital when she was born. Almost four years ago, I did make a film for just Charlie, but she says it’s not the same. She was the cutest toddler, waddling around, but she was certainly not a baby. They are firmly in the column of “done having babies” but as long as they will have me I will continue to make annual family films for them.

The same is true for the kids in the film below. I met this family when Jill was 8 months pregnant with Bohden and while I have hours and hours of footage of Miss Presley, someone else had the pleasure of photographing her as a newborn. I have made many awesomely real films for them over the last almost 5 years, and then I curated the footage into this film below. Their 2018 session was a little crazy as I brought along a gaggle of photographers with me, but I was still inspired to make them a nostalgic childhood film.

Yes I hoard footage for Day in the Life sessions too. Bedtime in the Roy household involves bath, dinner, wrestling, prayers, and books. In 2018 they were +1 and while Luke was pretty suspect of me initially, he warmed up! I have a few more nostalgic films in mind for this family and my other Day in the Life families as well.
