Life in the 1st Year Plans by Colie James
Denver Newborn Photography – So you find out you are pregnant and there are a million thoughts running through your head. Where will you deliver? What will you name the baby? Where will you register? Is hiring a newborn photographer somewhere on your preparing for baby checklist? Have you considered all the type of sessions you could book for your little one?
Not everyone wants to book a maternity photography session. By the end of the pregnancy you might be exhausted and just anxious to meet your little one and see your feet again! This is just one of the reasons I suggest you book your maternity session between 32-36 weeks. In this time period moms are radiantly beautiful, feeling great, with a nice round belly to document.
A session in the hospital is not for everyone. This is celebrating and documenting your growing family. It’s always nice to have someone there to take pictures so that the whole family can get in the frame.
Now that you are home is it everything you envisioned? I know my first few weeks were absolutely crazy. No time to eat, sleep, or bathe. Am I scaring you? Trust me, it’s all worth remembering.
While babies learn everything in their own time there are a few things that are pretty predictable. We plan sessions in the 1st year around those amazing milestones that are sure to come. Holding up their head while on their tummy? What about when they learn to sit, crawl, or pull up on their own? Somewhere in there a new toothy grin?
I have come to the realization I am a family photographer first and a newborn photographer second. So what exactly does that mean? While I take individual, dare I say portraits, of your newborn I am much more inspired by the connections of your family. There will be no froggy poses or hand-knitted pants with a matching hat. I think those are AWESOME pictures, but I am not the photographer to take them.
So why book a Year in the Life plan? They change so much in that first year. They go from being these tiny babies to actual tiny humans over that first year. You cannot wait until they walk and then you just wish they would slow down. You cannot wait for them to talk and then you wish there was just a single moment of silence. Booking a Year in the Life plan means we will document the entire year that you can share with them when they are older.
Yearbook Plan
Designed for those that want to document the 1st year in its entirety. This plan includes a maternity, in-home newborn session, and 3 milestone sessions (4, 7 and 12 months recommended). You do have the option of adding on a hospital session if you would like your time at the hospital documented as well.
Highlights of the Year Plan
Designed for those that want to document the 1st year in a traditional way. This plan includes an in-home newborn session, 6 month milestone, and 1st birthday session. You do have the option of adding on a maternity or hospital session as well.
Beginnings Plan
Designed for those who want to document the pregnancy and first month. This plan Includes a maternity, hospital, and in-home newborn session. Your maternity session can be outdoors on-location or at your home to include the nursery. Your hospital session will take place within the 1st two days before you checkout, siblings and grandparents are welcome to join. Your in-home newborn session will take place in the 1st month. Because we have already documented the tiny details at the hospital we can push back this session a bit to let you all get settled into life at home as a family.
Customized Plans available
We can develop a plan just for you to include the sessions you want most.
Do you pay the entire balance upfront?
No. You pay a retainer that is applied to your last session and are billed for each session one week in advance, one month for newborn sessions.
Is there a minimum number of sessions required to book a plan?
Yes. You need at least three sessions for a plan.
What are the benefits of booking a plan
There are special rates available for sessions booked as a plan. You can also upgrade your plan to include a fusion slideshow at a special rate instead of at the individual session rate.
When should you book your plan?
I can only book a limited number of newborn sessions each month, particularly hospital sessions. So the earlier the better. If you plan to include a maternity session in your plan the optimal window to complete that session is 32-36 weeks so at least a few weeks before that window would be best.
