So what do you do in a session where the “kids” aren’t so little? That’s a legit question, right? Just because your children are older doesn’t mean the rules of the game change. I still want to come over and just photograph whatever you would normally do. If you like to play board or video games, that is totally a photo moment. Paint each other’s nails and do your hair? Check and check. Kick a soccer ball or throw a football in the yard? Attend one of their school functions? Yep. Helping them with their homework, that too. And don’t forget, everybody’s gotta eat.
In 4-6 years I am still going to want a photography session for my family, I will even pull the “I laid in a bed for 6 weeks for you” card if needed. Because even if it involves doing nothing but scowling or slamming doors, I need those pictures. Maybe we even throw in a few selfies and call it a day!
Photography is not only for people with small children and babies. Pinky promise.
No matter how old the kids are, if you are looking for a family photographer to tell the everyday stories of your family I’m your girl. Colie James is a documentary family photographer offering Parenthood sessions in Boulder, Fort Collins, Denver and the surrounding areas that tell the story of you.
