After being grounded for so long to say I had a little apprehension about leaving for my next Day in the Life session is an understatement. I had honestly forgotten how to pack my travel bag. My checklist of getting batteries charged and cards loaded was no longer second nature. Then at 10pm as I walked out of my house and James asked me if I had everything I need I calmly said “there’s at least one camera and one lens in the bag, the rest is gravy”.
Got to the airport for my red eye flight and realized all the food was closed LOL. That’s okay because really who needs to eat at Midnight, right? I felt the sight twinge of a headache and realized it was just nerves. Took my meds, boarded that plane, threw on some headphones, got under my blanket and didn’t wake until we were wheels down in Philly. That was some good sleep.
Texted James to let him know I didn’t die on the plane (yes you can laugh at me now) and hopped into the ridiculously long line at Dunkin’ Donuts because I NEED COFFEE. My coffee tasted like it had an entire bag of sugar dumped in it. That’s okay, I needed the energy for the two adorable girls I was about to meet.
Enter The Roys. They were the best family for me to dip my toe back in the waters of Day in the Life photography. We booked this session in July 2015 and their original session was scheduled for 6 weeks after I got sick. So this Day was 3 months overdue and 1 year 2 weeks in the making. But honestly it was perfect timing, because life is often funny that way.
The backyard was my absolute favorite to shoot and it was only recently completed with a new swing set for the girls. We spent time back there #thedaybefore and during the Day in the Life. It’s my new #housegoal
So here are a few of my favorites. I am currently on the plane going back to Denver so these are unedited images sent to my phone using the wifi app and I just don’t care (well my OCD forced me to upload a new edited set from home). I shared some on Instagram and I will do a proper sneak peek when I get home and can flip through the thousands of pictures I took.
Often clients (especially the kids) say “that was the BEST day ever”. It certainly was… The Best Day Ever.
And of course my new all-time favorite Day in the Life moment ❤️
Stay tuned…
