Some additional information to consider.
This workshop is a little of everything. The first week sets the scene for exploring Lifestyle, and Documentary Photography. The second week is all about storytelling, considering your entire frame, introducing your characters, and using your equipment effectively to tell the story. During break week you will take what you have learned in weeks 1 & 2 and shoot an entire session. If you are in business I highly recommend you take this as an opportunity to shoot prospective clients in their home. Do a casting call NOW or ask a friend. If you are a happy hobbyist, shoot your own children. Week 4 is all about the processing, how to efficiently and creatively edit an entire session of storytelling images and create items to display those images. Last in week 5 we will discussing social media and blogging best practices, blog our sessions, and finally critique these sessions from a storytelling perspective.
Now about me. Why am I important? I hope you are in this workshop because you love my work. I don’t say this lightly because while some parts of this course are objective, I am presenting you with what I do and how I view the genre of storytelling photography. Just like you would hire a photographer because you like their body of work and can see yourself IN their images, I really hope you find yourself in this workshop because my work inspires you to want to create and tell stories in images for yourself or for others. It’s okay if you don’t like my editing style or we don’t have comparable shooting styles. If you want to improve your storytelling or lifestyle images this is the place for you. Keep an open mind because if something presented in the workshop doesn’t seem to immediately fit into your workflow keep it on the shelf and let it simmer. At the end of the workshop what might not initially be a good fit may later give you a new idea of where to go next.
Any questions or concerns? Send me an email! I can’t wait to see you in the workshop 🙂
