Did you know I am teaching a lifestyle photography workshop focused on storytelling next month?
I’m gearing up for a super busy summer. It is my last summer with Chloe at home full-time (she starts preschool 3 days a week this fall ::tears::) and I am knee deep in potty-training. I am taking Stacie Turner’s Creating Art in Black and White workshop which started last week ::so exciting::. Then we are taking a family vacation at the end of the month including a visit to Sea World which is NOT my idea of a birthday present but anything for the kid. After the birthdays have passed, I am teaching my very first photography workshop in August. While I would never admit this to my husband, sometimes I do miss teaching online so this is a great way to get back into teaching in a subject I love. The Telling Stories with Lifestyle Photography workshop will be held from Monday August 5th to Sunday September 8th.
This workshop is about you and your growth as a photographer and a storyteller. Each participant will receive a weekly PDF with the course material, weekly feedback on the assignments, and a 30 min Skype mentoring session with me at the conclusion of the workshop. There are a variety of assignments in shooting, editing, and developing your own style of storytelling. We will consider the genres of lifestyle & documentary photography, techniques and settings for indoor shooting, finding and utilizing light effectively within your house, elements of storytelling, editing a session to tell a story, and how to present the story to others. This workshop has a maximum of 15 participants to help foster significant interactions between the participants and myself.
This lifestyle photography workshop is held completely online and can be completed each week at your own pace. You are not required to be online at any particular time and can submit your assignments for critique and feedback at any point during the week. New material will be available each Sunday at noon MT. During week 3, August 19-25th, there will be no new material or assignments so you have the opportunity to shoot a storytelling session. There will be a live online office hour during this week for any questions you have, attendance is not required.
So, are you ready to take the plunge and discover how to tell a story effectively with your images? Join us, registration is currently open.
