Family Photos in a Pandemic. This was session 2 of 3 scheduled for this family. At the end of 2019, I photographed Andrew’s 1st birthday party + a morning at home as a family. He has grown SO much since I last saw him. I love this age as they are better at communicating their needs and interacting with other people. He totally offered me some of his cheese and in non-COVID times I am sure he would have held my hand during our walk. Next time!
You know how I promised to photograph your family completely outside in your yard this summer? This family totally took me up on it. When it comes to “outdoor family portraits” I am a lot like a fish out of water. I obsess over the weather, light, and the sun. It feels awkward to continuously adjust you so that everyone is in a flattering position, no dappled light, no shirt out of place. THAT is not that what this session was. Just a family enjoying breakfast in their backyard followed by a walk around the neighborhood. This I can do. So if you are missing your family photos but don’t want a photographer in your personal space, I get it. So if you are thinking about family photos in a pandemic, let’s hang out in your backyard instead. Here is how you start the process.
Side note: I craved steak the entire time I made their film. Usually, families are making pancakes or baking cupcakes during at-home session and I end up baking for the next few days. This time I could practically smell and taste the steak. I actually think I might make that for breakfast this morning. Luckily I am the only one in my house that eats steak, more for me!!!
