Booking requests from a potential client often ask “when is the best time for an in-home session”? Here in Colorado answering for an outdoor session is complicated and potential rain/weather days are often proposed in advance because our weather is quite unpredictable. Answering for an at-home session isn’t any easier, especially if you love to spend time outside in your yard.
I honestly tell most people to take my first opening that works for you. I don’t want you to have that extra time to worry about the house, how you look, or how the kids will act. Enjoy your session, don’t agonize over it! If you are ready to contact me then you are ready for the session, with a few exceptions.
Anticipation will kill you and I know this from personal experience. Booking your family photography session is like one of those Christmas gifts you just want to open immediately. I already book out 2-3 months in advance for weekend availability. The more flexible you are the easier it is to squeeze you in, with the exception of Fusion Video. If you want to add video onto your session earlier is always better so I have room in my editing calendar to edit your video and make your film/slideshow.
Need ideas for a session? Take a look at 5 Ideas for your Family Documentary Photosession, but then send a booking request so we can start chatting. Part of the process is discussing what your family loves and we collaborate to see when would be the best time for your session and plan around the activities you love.
