Chloe-
You are such a big girl now. If you had asked me two weeks ago when I thought I was going to be able to leave you at preschool alone my response would have been ‘hopefully by the end of the year’. However, last week you had your first entire day at Preschool without mommy and I am so proud. This is such a huge huge step. Thursday when I dropped you off there were tears. I gave you a big kiss, told you mommy had to go to work, and then left you at the door between your classroom and playground as you cried. I went to the lobby and I waited. When a few other parents dropped off their kids in the next 5-10 minutes each of them came back to the lobby to report no one was crying. And that was that.
I got a few updates throughout the morning that you were out on the playground having fun, that they would see if the monkey worked when the class transitioned back into the classroom for snack. You are my big girl. You did go to the door a few times and ask for mommy but each time one of your teachers handed you the monkey and pressed the leg so you could listen to the message mommy left inside. Afterwards you would smile and go back to playing. And that was that.
Your teachers were so amazed and proud of you they followed you around all day documenting what you were doing and how you played with the other kids. Mommy was so proud she may have cried a little in the lobby, hell mommy is crying right now writing this letter. I picked you up from school, we got in the car, and as we drove away you waved to the school and said “bye-bye teachers, bye-bye”. And that was that.
Oh and last week was the first time you let daddy put you to bed while mommy was home. SCORE. I am really looking forward to this next stage. This new found independence means I can stop hanging around your school every Tuesday & Thursday morning. I can work, go to the gym, or just enjoy a morning of shopping, alone. It means that maybe, just maybe, I can find a sitter we like and trust so that mommy & daddy can go on date-nights. It means that when mommy takes her first vacation without you next month I don’t have to worry that you will miss me too much. Because you are a big girl now.
You are a big girl now.
Love you always,
Mommy
