They shouldn’t.
When thinking about booking an in-home session (or immediately after you send the retainer) these are some of the things you may immediately begin to worry about:
1. How your house will photograph?
2. Will the everyday “mess” be in every image?
3. What will you DO during your session?
4. What will all of you wear?
5. Will my family cooperate?
6. Will Colie be able to get any “good” images?
I gotta say from being both in front of and behind the camera, I can see how those might stress you out. I’ll go ahead and be honest and admit I worried about ALL of those things before my first in-home session with MY family. James wore the most HIDEOUS Michigan State dark green t-shirt, I scrubbed and decluttered my house for WEEKS, and spent hours online trying to buy us all new PJs for the session. Then each time I have hired someone to come into my house I have stressed a little less. Honestly, my house was so clean for that first session it feels weird to even look at the pictures LOL. Enough about me, what about you?
Have your house everyday clean, not my mother-in-law is coming to visit clean.
Fill out your questionnaire and I will worry about what you will do (and not do) during your session.
Pick something comfortable to wear and let the kids do the same. I promise even if they wear that tutu you HATE you will love seeing the pictures of them in it.
Let me worry about getting the awesomely real photos + films. I am great with husbands and kids alike.
I promise you are in good hands. Even if you feel like your family is super boring or super crazy, it’s nothing I can’t handle. And while it is rare, I have been known to come back if your baby/young toddler is just really having a bad day. I do NOT do that for husbands with a bad attitude, but really it has also never been necessary either.
I feel in the spirit of full disclosure I should admit, if you can’t see and appreciate the humor in the images above I am 100% not the photographer for you.
