A 3 week photography workshop that explores everyday photography to tell the personal stories that need to be remembered.
Week 1 – Creating Art: exploring the basics of lifestyle photography and shooting indoors
Week 2 – Becoming a Storyteller: essentials of storytelling and documentary photography
Week 3 – The Story of YOU: telling, editing, and preserving your personal stories
These photography workshops are for those who want to find their storytelling style within lifestyle and documentary photography. It is recommended you have time to shoot a few times each week for your assignments. At the heart of these workshops is a feedback-reshoot process to allow you to get the most out of the experience. Course materials each week include lessons and assignments developed to facilitate finding your voice and style as a storytelling and lifestyle photographer. Activities include self- and peer-critiques, shooting exercises, and a one-on-one mentoring session with the instructor.
To get the most from either workshop it is recommended you own a DSLR/SLT/Mirrorless camera with full manual options, shoot in full manual mode, and edit in ACR/PS or Lightroom. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me for additional information.
Which workshop is right for you?
Whether you are in business or not you have the option to take either workshop. If you are strictly a hobbyist or your business focus is not family/children and you have no interest in pursuing that genre, then The Art of Telling Stories might be the best choice. If you are considering moving into client work, even as a hobbyist now, I would take The Business of Telling Stories. It could help you decide if you want the business side or you would have the information if you pursued it down the line. However, you will get the most from the Business workshop if you are ready to modify blog and pricing.
How much time is required each week?
Art of Telling Stories – This will vary, but a minimum of 4 hours is a good guess for reading, participating, and shooting your assignments.
Do you need to be online at a certain time?
Neither workshop has a live component during the workshop, so you are free to get online and participate at your leisure.
