My Visiting Hours Only (Fresh 48) sessions take place in the comfort of your hospital room, well maybe comfort is the wrong word to use. The typical stay is 1-2 days or 3-4 days for a c-section, depending what time of day you give birth. These sessions are designed to give you some lasting memories to keep and share of those first few hours and days when time passes so quickly.
If this is not your first child I would love to be able to capture the moment when your older child(ren) meet the newest member of your family. We do this by setting a start time (typically the morning after you deliver depending on time of birth) and we arrange to have your other children brought to the hospital 30 minutes after the session begins. This gives me time to setup my cameras and get some individual images of the baby before the siblings arrive. I want to be prepared to capture all that joy when they walk through the door! Grandparents are welcome as well, I just ask that they remain in the hallway so we can focus on the sibling meeting first.
I want you to be comfortable. That is the most important thing. Several of my clients prefer to wait until the day after delivery so they have had time to recover a bit and possibly shower. If you have something specific in mind for the siblings be sure you relay this to the individuals bringing them to the hospital. Coordinating colors are great, different textures are great, the most important thing is that everyone is not wearing the exact same color. Then you all might fade into one another sitting next to each other on the couch or bed.
Most of my c-section moms do not get out of bed, particularly if you have children super excited to come to the hospital and we schedule the session really quickly. For this reason for c-sections we tend to schedule Visiting Hours sessions for 2 days after delivery to give mom a bit more time to recover. Otherwise, nothing else is particularly different.
I do a sneak peek on Facebook same day. You are welcome to share and/or tag yourself in your images. If you want a particular type of image shared with/without full stats please let me know. All newborn sessions are delivered within 2-3 weeks of the session.
